Your Trainers

Gareth Taylor, West Midlands (September 2008 NIE).

You will be taught by the two most experienced and knowledgeable National Investigators' Examination (NIE) trainers in the United Kingdom.

Paul Connor and David Pinfield

Paul and David are both highly experienced detectives - you would expect them to be as they have both served on the CID in a major metropolitan force for many years. However, practical knowledge is of limited use when dealing with a theoretical multiple-choice question examination.

What you need in order to pass your NIE are trainers who really know what they are talking about when it comes to the actual examination and the syllabus.

Who better to teach you about the examination than trained multiple-choice question writers?

Paul and David are two of the most experienced multiple-choice question writers in the country. Between them they have actually written (not read) well over 4000 questions for a variety of publications and examinations.

Who better to teach you about the syllabus than the people who actually write the books?

Blackstone's Press produce four publications in respect of the National Investigators' Examination:

  • Blackstone's Police Investigators' Manual (officially endorsed by the NPIA)
  • Blackstone's Police Investigators' Workbook (officially endorsed by the NPIA)
  • Blackstone's Police Investigators' Q & A
  • Blackstone's Police Investigators' Mock Examination Paper

Look at the front covers - Paul Connor and David Pinfield write them all (Paul is the lead author for the 2012 Investigators' Manual).
